We guarantee our commitment to respect and protect your online privacy and we hope you appreciate the openness and clarity of our policy below.
For every visit to our website, we collect data about your computer and store it on our servers. The reasons for collecting the data are typically for generalised traffic analysis and identifying misuse of our systems. Below we have stated the data we collect, an explanation of that data, the purpose of collecting it and a live example.
We have not, do not, and will not, use this technology to get any personal data against your knowledge or freewill nor do we use it for any purpose other than to help us monitor traffic on our website, or (in case of criminal activity or misuse of our information) to cooperate with law enforcement.

We display and record some of your publicly available Steam profile data on a custom user page. If you would prefer some of your Steam data to not be shown, then please alter your Steam settings to be privately visible. In addition, the meta description of your shareable user profile page may contain your publicly available SteamID in your Steam profile URL resulting in it being shown in results from search engines. We assume by logging in that you are happy for the user profile page to be created and used in this way which includes some of your publicly available Steam and TruckersMP details alongside your Truckers Events data.
We display and record some of your publicly available TruckersMP data too, data such as your user group (player, support, admin etc.) along with your location data in game which is displayed on your user page, organiser links and comments. We also store data which you can change such as your preferred timezone to localise event times. This location tracking feature is enabled by default but can be disabled in your account settings if you would prefer not to be tracked which will remove any stored data and stop future updates. All tracking data is stored in real-time, that is only your most recent movement is stored, overriding any previous state.
To ensure the data we are keeping is up-to-date, relevant and serves your best interests, we automatically delete user accounts and associated notifications, comments, events, achievements and user followings for those users after a period of significant inactivity. Only the records of you joining events will remain, although they will not be associated to your user account. At the moment, the inactivity period is set to 6 months or more of not signing in to the website. After that period of time, your user profile may be automatically deleted if you have not significantly interacted with the site (e.g. created and joined events). This is not a ban of you from our services, it is simply us ensuring we don't store unnecessary data about you and maintain the efficiency of Truckers.Events. We'd love you to return and create a new account by signing in at any point, although it will be a new account if your previous user account had expired. If you have any questions or suggestions about this, please contact a member of staff.
External Links, Images and Videos
As part of event submission, we offer the ability to upload linked images and videos (of which permission has been obtained by the owner) as well as highlighting of hyperlinks to other resources or webpages. These image and video links will be shared through our API to third parties who wish to embed them in their sites, so by providing a link on our website, you are confirming you have permission to embed them and are agreeing that it may be embedded on other's site. Whilst we attempt to check posted links (although we are unable to assure you that we have checked all of them) - and it is normally unlikely for this to be used maliciously - it could be the case that the request for that resource (which is made from your computer in the case of images or videos) would indicate to an interested/malicious third party (the website of the resource) that you have visited a page on Truckers Events. Access to images on third-party sites may obviously be used for legitimate analytic purposes as well, some larger sites which we use include Google and Steam. The only likely information that could be obtained would be the referrer URL on truckers.events that the request was made from, but we thought we'd let you know. If you have any concerns about a link, image or video, then contact a member of staff.
The other cookies we use are those that we deem critical to the usage of the website. As the use of these cookies are critical to the website content, they are excluded for the 'EU Cookie Law'.
We have an API which is available to anyone who wishes to use it in good faith. Examples of this include WOTRDB's event page. This provides an interface for other developers to read data such as your user details (Steam account ID, Truckers MP ID etc.) comments and event details in an easy-to-use format. We assume you are happy for this data to be shared to users of the API, as the vast majority of it is already available and visible through the normal user or event etc. pages anyway. To remove your data permanently, please refer to Data specific to you. For more details of the API, please contact Pitsy or Digital, or visit the API page.
Data specific to you
Clicking the delete button on features such as Events or Comments hides it from public view but keeps the data. The comment or event itself is kept to allow moderating by admins and moderators, as well as restoring if you would like. If you want to permanently remove all data specific to you, go to your account settings (after logging in) and click the 'Delete All' button at the bottom of the page. If you require help, please contact Pitsy or Digital.
Truckers Events may revise this policy for its web site at any time without notice. By using this web site you are agreeing to be bound by the current version of this policy.
We endeavour to keep our systems safe and secure, but no system is ever 100% safe from attack or theft of data. We store comparatively little information about you, of most importance may be your Steam name, ID and TruckersMP ID and in-game location. We do not store any passwords or email addresses. All of our retrieved data is publicly available through Steam or TruckersMP APIs, if you do not want to share this data, then consult their policies and additionally use our Remove all Data function in your Truckers Events account settings to permanently remove your data. We always want to be as open as possible about our policies, if you have any questions or have any requests then please contact an admin or developer such as Pitsy or Digital or email us at email@example.com.
